SERPENTINA Window Panels. Interior by Tokerud & Co., Ville de Luxe Designer Showhouse. Illuminated by daylight, the design appears to float on sheer white ground. At night, interior light streams out creating a lantern effect.
Marlys Tokerud approached Carolyn Ray with a unique request. Create three window panels, each to stand alone as independent paintings, yet together have a conversation.
One of the first in the Jazz Fabrics series, taking Carolyn back to her painting roots, SERPENTINA began as an improvised squiggle, drawn freehand down the length of a 30' table to a jazz tune. To render Marlys' vision, improvisation and an engineered plan had to be brought together seamlessly for a perfect finish the Carolyn Ray Team is known for. Both sides of the job were a challenge, as all breakthrough designs are, but when the Snakehorn blew, it was Swingtime in the studio - a dance down the table with Chocolate Syrup on Snow.
